Awesome takes on these characters, Jay! I like the details of the Doctor Doom piece. Love the take on Kitty Pryde and Lockheed, and the Bode-style R2 looks cool, too

You're welcome, and no problem! Bode had a very interesting style, and so do you

Yeah, I can see the Vaughn Bode influence in these pieces to one extent or another. I also like the Kitty and Lockheed card - such a joyous thing.

Thank you! I'm much more an appreciator of the '80's Marvel comics--the X books were at their best then. Man I loved New Mutants...

I'm drawing them for $35, which includes shipping within North America. It may cost more to ship beyond that.

It always amazes me when somebody manages to make the original X-Men costumes look sexy. I'm as floored as a flatcat.

I may well consider this option someday - if only taking commissions were that easy for me....
Fun Star Wars pics, too!

Well, there's another artist I'll have to resist the strong urge to commission. But maybe not forever....
That's some fine work!
The R2-D2 reminds me of some of Vaughn Bode's Cheech Wizard work. It's those "feet."

I LOVE that you noticed the Vaughn Bode connection! He's one of my biggest creative influences, and you can totally feel it in my Star Wars cards! Matter o' fact, I drew a Boba Fett card that is sooooo inspired by Bode's Cobalt 60 that's it's ridiculous! Great eye you got there!

Why, thank you, sir! Sometimes there's an advantage to being old.
I have to admit to doing a double-take before I got it. I knew those legs were artistically licensed, but then I had one of those "that reminds me of something" moments. It took a few seconds before I found the Bode file in my brain cavity.
Now I have to go find my Bode books. Haven't looked at 'em in a while.

I'm also heavily influenced by animator Ralph Bakshi, particularly obvious when you view his film "Wizards". Ironically, Bakshi cribbed from Bode's style big time when making that movie, so in that case, it's almost the same as being influenced by Bode!

For the life of me, I can only remember brief bits of Bakshi. But I do remember being mesmerized, which may explain the first sentence.

Bakshi is not for the faint of heart! Best to start out with "Wizards", which is relatively straight forward fantasy with a hint of political commentary.

That's an AWESOME idea for the back of the card!
And great sketches to boot! You're going to clean up at cons with those

Thanks, Chad! We'll see how successful my card commission drive goes. I'm trying to sell enough so I can afford to attend C2E2 in April. Guess we'll see what happens. I may have a better shot selling my Star Wars return cards.
By the way, just got "Popeye" the movie for $10 at Barnes and Noble today! Wahoo! Wadda find!
