Description
Thanks to C-Hickin for the help for a title and bit of an explanation here:"From the definitions that I commonly use a mage is similar to that of a wizard where their powers are developed over many years of study and practice. Because of this I believe that a mage can have a number of magic types in their casting arsenal, including necromancy.
Necromancy is generally considered a 'school' of magic, albeit one that is generally frowned upon. D&D uses the term Necrotic for its damage type and Necromancy for the school of magic.
Though what you need to consider is what your brand of Necromantic magic is. Is it a twisting and a corruption of the natural order, binding souls to an unliving state? Or is it the mere animation of what is dead where the caster acts more as a puppeteer of the dead (which brings about the term Corpse Puppet)? Is it a magic derived from a divine or demonic being?"

Your art has been getting better as time passes, and it really shows here!
The dark, death tones really does contrast the bright greens of the flames and skeletons, the sparks of life becoming a raging flame. I find it interesting that necromancer's face seems to be visible, in a sense, though I cant really tell what is going on in that area. Still great regardless. The runes linking each skeleton to the necromancer are also a nice addition to this piece of art.
The serpent in the back, which resembles a sort of Cobra, is interesting in its own right, and makes you think what its purpose in this ritual is - is it a companion, a mentor, a master? The fact that it is big enough to wrap around the entire clearing feeds those thoughts. Regardless, it is pretty stunning in its own right, with the bright green of the fire reflected in its scales.
The background is well detailed and really adds to the creepy, doing a forbidden act at midnight, feeling, which is great! Overall, I always loved this type of art, and this art defintely stands out.

Incredible work!
Vision: Every about this just screams fantasy. The green flames, the skeletons, the runes, and the necromancer, are all well executed. Everything just fits so well, including the background.
Originality: I gotta say, the snake is a surprise. At first, it seemed a little random but the longer I looked at it, I thought 'Yeah. This works'. I looks like something that our wizard here would summon as a familiar.
Technique: Upon closer inspection (or as close I can get. Thanks DA), I got a good look at the finer detailing. It's quite easy to see that everything was planned. Every crack, every ember, all the shadows; all planned and with great execution.
Impact: Overall, I get some really strong D&D and Magic the Gathering vibes from this. Well done.

Great Work. The flames add eerie lighting to the entire scene. The spectral skeletons are also a good touch considering both ghosts (specters) and skeletons are part of necromancy.
The attention to detail is very good. Observing the runic-style writing and one will notice the symbols are the same not in the same order, except for the last one.
The skeletons reaching and bowing before the necromancer is VERY good. it shows who is really in charge. The branches look like dead fingers, like the ghost of Christmas future.
Near the "hooded figure" (to use a classic D&D term) at his waist is a cross.
this is in great counterpoint to his actual profession.
The Serpent which is also in the foreground and midground of the painting is very accurate to a cobra; the most deadly snake is the King Cobra(Ophiophagus hannah), followed by the Taipan(Genus Oxyuranus) of Australia, which the head and scales resemble greatly.
Not much more to critique besides the large usage of dark to obscure the hard parts to draw. Justifiably, even the best artists can't do some things well, but practice makes perfect.

actually I think it's rather difficult to find good quality stock of snakes. At least I never found what I was looking for, otherwise my gallery would probably be full of them lol
