Description
Cuttlefish was the codename for specialized TAIs built before and during the Second Psychic War. They were intelligent and androgynous, and designed for the sole purpose of assassinating dissidents in rebellious systems. The Empire constructed hundreds of such units, and deployed them on specific targeted missions along with sending them into areas of rebellious activity to act on their own free will. What made Cuttlefish model TAIs unique was their ability to change their gender, body type, height and hair color at will. They would extrude a mass of nano-rubber molecules to cover their more mechanical bodies during assassination attempts. They made excellent killers, but were ultimately foiled by the increasing numbers of psychics aiding the Cave Grove and Felorian rebels.

At the end of the Psychic War, Cuttlefish were hunted down and destroyed by squads of Cave Grove and Felorian special forces, but since most of their controller equipment had been sabotaged by their Imperial controllers many of the survivors remained active, and continued to slaughter any targets they deemed viable. Within a few years, though, their numbers were few and far between, and many had realized that new direct orders weren’t going to come any time soon. Most Cuttlefish contacted freelance neural programmers to rewrite their assassination and stealth programming to allow them to live lives as normal TAIs.

The Cuttlefish pictured here is one of the few to survive into the more stable periods following the War. She shows signs of her age, being an original Beta model, she was sent out without many of the inhibition subroutines included in later models programming. This in fact made her much smarter, as she was able to avoid detection well into the Chorus Invasion, where she aided human forces in fighting the Chorus, and earned a Universal Pardon for any and all past misdeeds.

And now she wants to cuddle.
