Description
This is one of the Cutter Slave nukebikes from a shorter science-fiction story I'm working on. It's set in an alternate future where the entire world has gone fubar, due to an "Event" that took place in the mid-south United States. The Cutter is a personnel transport, capable of carrying seven humans including the driver, or roughly one ton of cargo. The bike runs off of a semi-conventional nuclear engine, using a closed mercury loop to generate power internally. It has a high top speed, is relatively maneuverable and very tough. To load cargo and passengers, the mid-section of plates slide apart, exposing the seating/cargo area and a small crane.
The Cutter is used by an enclave of technophilic slavers who are obsessed with the technology that was developed in the days after the Event. Their ultimate goal is to reach the center of the crater which now encompasses much of the Gulf of Mexico, Texas, Mississippi, Louisiana and Florida, but due to the crater flooding soon after it formed, this is a near impossibility. The US government constructed a massive rig at the center of the crater to study and research what they'd found there, but it has been inaccessible for decades.
More to come with other models, and the finished model of this crazy bike.
And yes, it's supposed to look like a bug.

Nice... I love the design. I like that it's armored and bigger than it 'looks'.

The driver and passengers ride inside of it.

They use cameras and wrap around screens.

Looks very cool. Like something I'd like to have as a 3d model.

Yeah, I'm gonna use it in a few drawings once it's complete, probably.

Cool. Though you made the thing sound immense, and didn't say how big it was.

Well it's a decent size, just shy of 10 meters long.

Yipes. Having owned a 'cycle I can tell you it'd need some sort of major stabilizing gyro to prevent it from falling over at slow speeds and turns. It'd look cool as heck though.

Very cool design, an inside view would be nice.
I love the story, with the mysterious crater. Reminds me of Fallout (the very first one).

All of that sounds really cool, but it will still forever remind me of a pillbug bike. I'm just waiting for it to curl up in a ball defensively and buck its riders off

Well it's supposed to look like a bug! And the people ride inside of it, too...

Aaah, inside. I was wondering how seven people would fit on that thing...

It is rather spiny too, riding on it would...hurt.

I imagine so.
P'raps you should make an interior sketch to show how people ride in it comfortably...and/or how they even get in it in the first place?
