I like the truck, but one question I have is why the open wheel design? From an engineering standpoint it seems like it would create more problems than it would solve. It looks cool, but having changed truck tires, that looks like a beast. Still a cool design though.

Well, I was always a big fan of Franco Sbarro's design of hubless wheels. Frankly, they not very practical since they're vulnerable to outside contamination getting into the bearings, but damn if they don't look cool.
Actually, if you'd ignore the contamination issue (and complex fabrication and resulting high cost) this design is excellently suited for heavy loads, since the weight is placed directly on the rim of the wheel iso the spokes.

The headlights actually kinda look like the ones that are already on the current Volvo VN 780s
