Episode "the Stare Master" had Applebloom say "Who wants a hammer for their cutie mark anyways!"
I tend to think Applebloom has more talent at design and painting since in the episode where they were making the talent show she told Sweetie Belle how to fix the dress and how to paint the scenery.

this is true, she does have a very good hand at design. I kinda got stuck with the idea of her being a carpenter because she was able to fix up the tree house so well
