Way back in April 1991, I brought Aaron's dad Rick into the picture. I established a lot off the bat - he and Marion are divorced, he served a very brief stint in Vietnam and got discharged due to an injury, he's currently unemployed, and he has a worldview that's still largely stuck in how he was raised in the 1950s and '60s. But also, and this is really really important that I make sure everybody understands this: he still loves Aaron. And he wants to be the best dad he can be for him, even if his idea of how to do that is a little misguided.

Only recently have I found more opportunities to bring Rick back for more appearances. It makes sense that a movie like A Few Good Men, the ultimate military courtroom drama, would catch his eye. But going forward, I want to delve a little deeper into Aaron's family life, something I've largely shunted into the background. I haven't explored much about why Aaron is the way he is, but I think it makes sense that his "everything is awesome" mentality would come from trying to defuse arguments between his parents all his life. If you always look on the bright side, you can't be unhappy, right? I think that's a very rich vein to explore in the future. Keep an eye out throughout 1993 for more.
