Description Betty Boop was definitely one of the easier characters in this series - the Max Fleischer cartoons of the 1930s were so bizarre and off the wall, I could put her in any scenario and it'd still seem canonical. So here she is at the bottom of the ocean with a few fishy friends (as well as one very large foe). And yes, I know the octopus only has six legs, but do you really expect realism from a Fleischer cartoon?

Well, you know, it was the 1930s, after all.

Didn't they actually make a Betty Cartoon where most of the action took place underwater (I remember it came up in conversation in a discussion on Hare Ribbin'

If they did, I wish I'd known about it when I drew this - it would have been a good influence. I haven't seen very many Betty cartoons firsthand, but I have studied her history.

Hey, Betty Boop. Admittedly, she gets often overshadowed by the likes of Jessica Rabbit, Red Hot Riding Hood and Minerva Mink (or so I have come to believe), but she WAS one of THE first major female cartoon stars, so it's great to see her get her due. :-D

Don't get to see that many Betty Boop pics nowadays. Good to see some of the classic American toons are still remembered by somebody. ^_^ Great pic.

You know, I was actually considering a title like that at first, but I thought this one was more esoteric (since "I'm Forever Blowing Bubbles" is the name of a real Fleischer cartoon from 1930).

You've really captured the Fleischer style well here, partically in the octopus. I'll admit that these "oldies" aren't entirely my cup o' tea as they are a bit too "out there" for me.

And Betty only has 4 digits, so a 6 armed Octopus is perfect! :3
