Description
And now for a particularly large entry in my MST3K Top 25 countdown, I present number 21 - a king-sized acid trip of a movie, 523 "Village of the Giants"!Synopsis, from the MST3K Amazing Colossal Episode Guide:
"Another movie by Bert I. Gordon, maker of The Amazing Colossal Man and Earth vs. the Spider. This one is mid-1960s vintage, and in color. It tends more towards wacky than Gordon's earlier efforts, but it's still concerned with big things: big ducks, big cats, and mostly big delinquent teens with their big bouncy breasts. The teens eat some formula concocted by a young genius named Genius (played by Ron Howard), and they get real big and dress in revealing clothes and dance in slow motion. Being delinquents, they declare martial law and demand fried chicken. Head delinquent Beau Bridges is particularly annoying, almost as annoying as head good teen Tommy Kirk. Genius mixes up an antidote and sprays it at the big teens from the back of his bike. He looks like a low-budget mosquito spraying program."
Hey, 200th Deviation!

OMG!! You get a fav from me, and a huge OMG!!
As an avid fan of the film (I created the unofficial webpage for it), I'm always on the lookout for any interpretations of this Bert I Gordon film.

Nice work.
Recently, I actually saw the non-MST version of that film on the shelf. I didn't get it 'cause I wasn't sure I wanted to sit through it with Joel/Mike and the Bots to help ease the badness. Sounds like I made the right choice...

Do you remember their showing of Teenagers from Outer Space? Including the token gargantuan arachnid at the end. The best parts...

The things I remember the most from this movie was how disturbingly high Tommy Kirk's hair is, how disgustingly short his shorts were, how I couldn't figure out how the one girl who was assigned to "guard duty" got the giant-sized teen magazine, and how ridiculously plastic-looking Beau Bridges' giant prop legs looked when Tommy Kirk tried punching him in the ankles or something. Oh and don't forget The Beau Brummels' musical appearance in the film.

Their clothes don't change size when they first grow into giants, but when they shrink the drapery clothes they made go with 'em...
...I guess I shouldn't expect too much from Bert I. Gordon. The only guy worse than him is Roger Corman. XD

I found that this movie was worse than any of Corman's films to be honest.

Yeah, at least Corman never tried to be "wacky".

Actually I felt, after watching all of MST3K, that Coleman Francis was far, _far_ worse than either of them. And some other one-shot (on the show, anyway)-only "movie"makers whose sins were heinous to get them into the Hall of Shame...Rick Sloane for one. Oh, _gods_, Rick Sloane.
I'd MUCH rather watch an average Burt. I. Gordon or Roger Corman movie...or Ed Wood...than those guys. At least their stuff is _entertainingly_ stupid.
...Notorious

I think the closest he came to "wacky" was with The Undead. I mean, that movie was completely incomprehensible.

And somehow it is based on H.G. Wells "The Food of the Gods"

I loved the jokes they made about Willow in this episode. But the highlight was the Tribute to Frank Zappa.
