I’m really pouring a lot of effort into making “Off the Deep End” work as a comic. And I figure if it’s going to be a comic, it should have a cover. (Probably should have thought of this before I started posting the story itself, but eh.)Of course, covers are hard work. I wanted to show the contrasting personalities of Jamie and Spencer. I wanted to work in elements of the story (namely, Jamie’s birthday). And I wanted the art itself to look its best, so I poured on lots of meticulous shading and lighting effects. All told, I’m quite pleased with how it turned out. So, if you saw it on the rack at your favorite comic shop, would you pick it up?

Truth be told, a good writer can make a good story out of any premise or concept. Some even undertake challenges involving obscure thoughts or places; or something like that. Some even use some sort of randomizer as a way of breaking the so-called "artist's block".

That's sort of what I'm doing with this series. For the longest time, I didn't think I could make a workable series out of an unusual concept like this, but now that I'm really putting some genuine effort into it, I'm pleased with what I'm coming up with. I like how the characters are developing, and the more I get to know who they are and what they want, the more stories I'm bound to come up with.

Knowing it was a JB Warner comic, yeah I'd pick it up in a heartbeat.
Not knowing that, I'd probably pick it up, browse through it a little bit, then buy it.

The lighting, detail, and of course, the characters in this cover really shine.
