Description You might recognize this pose - I based this sketch on a frame from Chuck Jones' "Beep Beep" (1952). Usually when I draw Wile E. Coyote on a rocket, I just draw the typical cylinder-and-cone, but by using the cartoon for reference, I managed to get all the details. The only question is, how is this going to backfire?

I say it stalls out, takes off the moment he gets of, the rocket hits a wall or something, and the coyote gets hit with a boulder.

Hmmm...either it'll explode a millisecond after the fuse is lit, the nose-cone will fly off the rocket or the front wheels will fall off, causing Wile. E to rocket his way underground towards "Heck".

Ohhhh, the possibilities are endless!

You know, as a former Physics major, I find Wile E.'s mishaps even funnier and they also provide good physics lessons to boot. ^_^

It also reminds me of a comment I made to a Game designer I was playtesting for who used to be rather frikkin' smug about his intelligence and didn't realize nor choose to that most of us testing for him had graduate drgrees and were pretty Hi-IQ to boot.

After one of his "Mark A. Cxxxxxxx (name hidden to semi-protect the very guilty), Suuuper Geenius" smug outbursts- I told him---

"Wile-E. Coyote was a Super-Genius too, and look where it got him!" Which shut him up amidst a pretty good gale of laughter. I think, perhaps, I was more like Bugs with him, who proved to be a rather worthy foe of old Wile E., who consistently underestimated Bugs' rather high IQ too. ^_^

Speaking of Bugs vs. Wile E., my favorite Coyote gag comes from "Operation: Rabbit". It involves a cannon, several yards of stovepipe, and a classic look of Carnivorous Overconfidus mortification. ^o^

Well, the best line from Wile E. to Bugs is "How do you do my name is Mud!", which I think if from that cartoon.

My personal fave is the one where he's pouring nitro into hollowed out carrots and gloating to himself while Bugs tows his work shack over the railroad tracks.

Just finished watching a marathon afternoon of "Man versus Cartoon" a few weeks ago where many of Wilie's schemes were recreated in real-life. I still split a side laughing over the setup where they had a Road Runner analog race down a rocket sled to a waiting 155mm artillery piece. With almost the same results - it kept firing prematurely.

It will...

A) Explode.

B) Shoot straight up in the sky.

C) Work okay for a while and then fail... right when Wile is near a cliff.

D) Collide with a truck.

E) Crash in a mountain or telephone pole.

F) ALL OF THE ABOVE.

Hey, that coyote's riding a firework! I wonder how long it'll take him to realise that's gonna explode...

I like very much how this sketch came out. When doing some animation sketch work, the props are as important as the character is. And this rocket is quite well done. Lately you have made a lot of progress. The effect of the belts attached to W.E to the prop are very convincing.

I just would be a bit more careful with the wheels supports, they don't look that integrated if we compare them with the rest.

You press a lot the pencil to the paper when you draw, don't you? I do the same thing.

I think the whole thing scanned a little crooked, actually, which is why the wheels seem to be at an angle.

Yes, that's another thing, In Real life, hand made drawings look like a million times better than scanned.

I wonder why nobody invents a scanner good enough to make justice to our hand work.

It's either going to instantly explode, or shoot straight up into the sky.

Or shoot straight up into the sky and then explode.

Of all the Loony Tunes episodes I watched as a kid, I remember laughing the hardest at the Wile E. Coyote ones. Interesting traps, hilarious outcomes.
