Description Technically, it was the King of Cartoons' birthday yesterday, but that's also when I drew this, so it kinda evens out. Happy posthumous 99th to the late, great Fred "Tex" Avery, whose innovations in the world of animated cartoons remain just as hilarious today as they were 60 years ago!

Now, if only the guy could get a proper DVD set...

This is a great tribute. Did you ever do one for Bob Clampett or Friz Freleng?

Droopy has been one of my favorite characters. I just never liked the redesign much later after the originals.

Tex was among the best of animators, and this tribute is no less of a decent pic ^^

Avery (like Clampett) died, much much, too early, and Animation has been all the worse for it.

I wonder how things would be different if Tex had managed to live as long as Friz and Chuck.

I got my Tex Avery DVD Set off eBay $70.00 along with Freakazoid! for $30.00. There were plenty when I checked.

They must be bootleg copies, then - Avery's cartoons still haven't seen a complete American DVD release, and there's no official "Freakazoid" release, either. eBay is rife with people selling "complete series" DVDs that consist of second-and-third-generation VHS-to-DVD transfers. That's why I only trust Amazon.com.

Yeah, I got the Tex Avery thing from overseas but you have a point with the bootleg thing.

Nice! Love that wolf's crazy reaction! Red looks kinda foxy in your style, too.

Only 364 more days till the big 1-0-0 for Tex

I know about the upcoming Droopy set, but Avery did a lot of great non-Droopy cartoons at MGM too ("Red Hot Riding Hood", "Bad Luck Blackie", "King-Size Canary", etc., just to name the most obvious), and it'd be nice to see those get an official release).
