*WARNING: This is probably my most controversial piece yet, oddly enough. On reddit, people seemed to assume that I thought ratings are human/rat hybrids, which I don't. I also agree that they are space hobbits. But in keeping with the grim dark aesthetic, I wanted to add minor features that evoked "ratlike" for the sake of making them appear more unpleasant in keeping with the theme of the collection. This was the piece that received the most backlash, but the complaints seem overblown for something very benign so I'm posting this anyway. I'd like to take this time to remind you that it's really not that big a deal.*

This is part of a series of pieces I did that took what abhumans in 40k are "described" as and reveals what's more realistic/believable in the grim dark setting. Note that this may not be the true appearance of every member of this race's population but it's more likely given the ways that mutants are treated and where they are cultivated.

This collection started with the idea to take what many people would think a felinid would look like (cat girls in 40k) and illustrate what they would more likely look like (human/feline hybrid mutants.) A lot of people have had their takes on these characters and this is mine, at least in my head canon.
