Description Okay, so my cat drags in this weird looking bird and I'm all like WTF?? So I decided to cut it up and see what's in its insides. Unfortunately, my camera jammed, so I had to paint the whole thing.

Perfect! It is so real and believable that I can even feel sorry for the pterosaur.

Awesome!
Poor thing. After escaping extinction for 150 million years and successfully impersonating a Ropen to dozens of crazy eyewitnesses, it ends up as a cat's meal. And even that fails.

How I would love to really dissect a pterosaur! Love it!

You're like the John James Audubon of pterosaurs. Brilliant.

You seem to have good skills with a scalpel, to get the skin of it's wingmembrane

There was; it was removed during the Dissection.

Sorry about the double-wise-crack, not-so-wise after all.

This is a very cool concept, nice to see your work again.

Spike.

My dogs bring in stuff like this all the time.
Yesterday it was a sub-adult Quetzalcoatlus, took ages to bury it...

Back from the dead!
Although I'm afraid that your "cute cat school, phD." cat cannot even hurt or kill a tiny mouse, let alone a flapping, squawking, biting pterosaur like this.

I used to fantasize about things like this in middle school biology class.

I was a fucked up kid.

This is gorgeous! Your anatomy is just wonderful, and the colors and patterns you used are beatiful. I love how you show the step-by-step process so you can see all the layers of tissue.

DrScottHartman [2009-03-25 22:06:45 +0000 UTC]

The only thing I'd suggest is that there should be some evidence of the cause of death, especially if your cat was said cause.

But a fantastic idea and brilliant execution!

Well, I frequently find birds in pretty much a pristine state. Or I find a beak and a pair of feet.

....I..... I don't know if I should praise such display of skills and artistic inspiration, or if I should freak out at the thought that you took a poor little dead bird (the animals I obsess at!!) and actually dissectioned it.....
