More of my high-school hi-jinks. Here we have the moment where Link and Marin talk on the beach. Well... Marin talks, anyway. It's kind of funny wheen Marin goes "Hey! Are you listening to me at all?" I don't know how Link manages to be so lucky with girls when he never really talks to them. At this point it'd be simpler to make him a legit mute.

Prior to this moment, I hadn't realized Marin was meant to be a love interest. I was pretty dense as a kid, and it was my first Zelda game. I was puzzled when it said "Is this your big chance?" after she agreed to walk around with you. But it was also on of the first moments that I though, hey, that'd be cool to do a picture of.

This one, unlike 90% of my work on here, is not colored pencils, but watercolors. My folks were trying to get me interested in watercolors at the time--my dad had done them back in the day, and my mom thought it would be good for bonding. I ended up not going with it--I never could figure out how to control the color to my satisfaction. But this is definitely one of my better attempts from that period. I thought watercolors would give the scene a more "magic" atmosphere.

I think this is the last Link's Awakening picture I did. I did some Oracle of Ages pictures, though. Maybe I'll post those next.
