Description Wow, been a while since I was on here. I've had a job and some computer issues to work through.

I meant to put up a different picture this week, but what with some confusion over submission this is what I ended up with. Which is fine, because this is a cool picture.

No story for this one. It's inspired by a part in Ursula LeGuin's Earthsea trilogy, where the hero talks with this enormous dragon, but that's not who this is at all. It is simply some incredibly daring hero who is talking to some incredibly enormous dragon.

This is incredibly good (had to keep the incredibly's going ).
Looks like the hero is settling the first order of business or introducing himself in a heroic fashion. He better hope the dragon cares about what he has to say.

Or maybe he's getting someone else's opinion (besides the king's) to see if that cloud really looks like a bunny.

Really? Hadn't even seen that when I drew this. It is an AWESOME movie, though, so I'm glad it reminds you of that.

If that hero is planning on slaying that dragon I'd like to know where he bought his Ace of Spades...

Or his bazooka. In the inspiration, it was a wizard who knew the dragon's name (giving him power over it) but in this case the guy is pretty royally screwed.

Ah, I like how the dragon kind of looks like an iguana [to me]. Cute!

I think I did actually look at iguanas and other lizards as a reference, so it's not just your imagination.

Thanks! I've heard that the proportions are actually a little off, but I thought the overall affect was quite good, so I'm glad you agree. Thanks for the fave, too!

I like the way the scene as a whole is composed. The teeth are done very well (as big as the character's head).

Thanks. The design was really very simple, but I tried to work out the proportions well.

The detail around the eye and nostril is impressive., however, the dragon might be *too* large. In my humble opinion, one would be better off drawing this picture with at least the forelegs included so that one gets a better sense of scale.

Just my non-artistic (and HOW!) 2c.

JD-Kloosterman In reply to Forcestar [2009-06-13 02:48:30 +0000 UTC]

He could be too large. I essentially just drew an epic-sized dragon head that filled up the page and then made a small human. for scale. I just wanted the impression that he was big, I didn't worry forearms.

Forcestar In reply to JD-Kloosterman [2009-06-15 03:29:45 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, I understand that. I just feel that it would be better if the dragon itself was somewhat put into scale, but hey, you're the artist, not me.

i like it. the eye is too large i think, but you know about that.

definitely not ursula le guin, as that was on a raft, i believe. Interesting, i was considering doing a pic on that segment as well.
