Description The Salamander (Koolasuchus cleelandi) is a common sight in the watershed of both the Black and White rivers. Growing to over a thousand pounds and 10' long, the spade-headed beasts can cover river banks for miles on end with their heavy purple bodies. Notoriously hungry and stupid, most will lie submerged in swamps or slow-moving stretches of water for days on end until a small horse (about 6 hands tall in this setting), animal, or child wanders past and they can strike with the suddenness of a landmine. Despite occupying the niche of a crocodile, their even lazier natures, small intelligence, and wide heads made them less dangerous to animals over a certain size, so they were seldom associated with martial virtues. Quau'hau'nok was the Koolasuchus-headed Lake Man (Beaver) god of hunger and greed, or, in his more optimistic portrayals, of the joys of good food, relaxation, and contentment. His most fearsome incarnations have him consuming the souls of the unworthy. He is usually depicted as sitting or reclining lazily, sometimes with his belly full of sinners and coals.

Heavily inspired by Clark Ashton Smith's Tsathoggua, though far more terrestrial. For the most part I'm happy with the base shapes, but I couldn't pick a colour palette I liked or think of a very exciting background. Also, his ossicones look like ears in retrospect.

Thanks for stopping by, feel free to leave a comment, and have a great day!
