Materials and Methods
Nikon D80 + 50mm f1.8 + IR remote. Tutu is made. Octopus lamp for lighting. Minor vignetting in post editing. Color balancing. Darkened shadows and increased midtones to create a slightly better contrast.
Additional Comments
Hoping to do more with this style of lighting. I've been meaning to do this concept for awhile. I would much prefer it done with a pregnant model though. If anyone wants to replicate the concept with a pregnant model feel free; I'd love to see the results.
PS: No, these markings are not the markings for a real cesarean. This is simply a conceptual realization; not a literal representation.
I generally hate explaining concepts but some people seem to be interpreting this photo way too literally. One deviant seems to have summed up the interpretation fairly well: "Sounds painful. But what do I know about childbirth; I'm a guy. LOL on the tic-tac-toe board!"
In other words: It's a lighthearted, childish spin on a painful sacrifice inspired by personal oblivion.
If you want to suggest another title, feel free. If you interpreted the concept differently, I'd love to hear what it was

Ahh you poor thing. Having to explain your concepts. People do sometimes take things way too literally... ><
I love the coloring on this. And, of course, the concept. The fact that you can't see her(/your?) face makes this more powerful for me. And by the way, I love how detailed you are about all the materials and settings for your photos. (And thanks for the link, that should keep me from doing any work for a while. xD)
...I clicked on an emote by accident and now it won't go away. So you get joy. <<

No problem. I generally describe the post processing and tools used for every photo in the Artist's Comments. Thanks for actually reading them

heh, i interpretate it as a ballet dancer fearing cesareans can affect how she would dance.
i picked up fear through the angle of the pose and the self covering arms.
heh i came up with this story right when i looked at this,
so i thought you'd wanna see something different in your comments LOL
I also feel the markings on the tummy is a cool symbol!
The tic-tac-toe interpretation was so uncalled for...

there's not much of a strong concept. But you visualize the meaning well. I'm not sure if that make sense ^_^'.
Anyways beautiful lighting and stomach. You have such a small waist and flat stomach.

if you are willing to take part of the Book Project then I believe these 4 pics chosen as fav could be a great fit in the book!
but maybe I'll choose more later!
Your work is beautiful, especially this one, the colors are gorgeous and the pose is very delicate and sensual!

Oh ok but it was not a book about making money but to help people others, all proceeds were to go for a charity.
I am uniting with other willing artists to spread the love and spread poetry, because some women dont have this blessing in their life to be able to make art or poetry.
I have other ideals as an artist
but I understand you want to make money.
bye

Well frankly, I didn't even know that your book was for charity. But since you have blankly assumed that I am simply about making money, I am left in no mood but to wish you good luck in your efforts

When I first saw this, I thought it was an interpretation of low self-esteem. I tought it was suppose to represent plastic surgery and what not.
But now I see the concept.
Beautifully done.
