Nikon D80 + Tamron 90mm macro. Water drop with glitter on a feather with more glitter in the background. Pipettes are surprisingly helpful in these shots. Decreased red content and increased blue to create a greater color contrast between the feather and the background. Minor tone editing, decreasing shadows to increase contrast.
Additional Comments
So cliche but I've been meaning to try it with a real macro lens for awhile. The 2 shiny glitter pieces reminded me of eyes on a bug

Jean I am in complete wonderment! How long did it take you to cover the drop with glitter?
I must buy a macro lens!
You are fabulous and pipettes rule. I miss working in a lab. Radioatcive ATP and snake venmon. Fun times

It doesn't take long at all. I guess because of the cohesive and adhesive properties of water, the glitter just sticks to the water and the water retains its ball form. You should try it

I love your ideas! It sounds simple "glitter on a waterdrop" etc but to think of things like that is really great.

I found this [link]
And it's very similar to yours, but you submitted this first. It could be a copy, I'm not sure.

Working with glitter, feathers and water drops is a pretty cliche thing by now. Just search "glitter ball" in dev, you'll get a lot of hits. `hellfirediva has done shots like this before. Ninazdesign has some really pretty ones too.
Unless it's an exact copy, as in the stole my photo and edited out the watermark, I'm not concerned.
Thanks for the info
