Biography

Light is the will of Mata Nui. It is the beacon that illuminates the path to destiny and the torch that challenges the Darkness. Many Matoran seek to find the destiny planned for them. But their are only a few who choose to follow the Way of Light, completely giving their lives to Mata Nui. These few are know as the Disciples of Light. They dedicate themselves to meditation and study of the will of Mata Nui, isolating themselves from society. But their greater duty is to safeguard the sacred Kanohi Avohkii, the Mask of Light, and to guide the next Toa of Light that wears it.

Solecc was born and raised as a Disciple of Light before the War of Shadows. He grew up obedient to his brothers and sister and loyal to the Way of Light. But sometimes he would catch glimpses of the world beyond his settlement from traveling pilgrims and longed to see it for himself. He never got the chance since the Disciples never ventured into the world, but the desire never died. That changed years later when Makuta destroyed Metru Nui and beset the Matoran with his evil forces. The Disciples remained safe and young Solecc was unaware of the external conflict for some time... Until a young Toa named Matoro came to the settlement asking to learn the Way of Light to defeat the Master of Shadows. It was Matoro who informed Solecc of the War of Shadows being waged, and it was then Solecc truly understood the role the Disciples of Light played. Matoro would leave with the Avohkii as the next Toa of Light, vanquish the Dark Makuta, drive back the remnant invaders, and return to retire the Avohkii and take the rest he had earned. Inspired by Matoro's spirit and having grown wiser, Solecc took up the Avohkii and, as Toa of Light, began his mission to heal the damage left by the Darkness and to help Mata Nui's Light shine throughout the land once again.

Skills, Abilities, and Tools

Solecc's role is as a teacher and a traveler- to share Mata Nui's will throughout the world- not a warrior. As such, he abstains from combat and carries no weapons. For safety, however, he does wear light padded armor and has martial art training. He also carries the Staff of Light, an ancient, traditional staff designed to help control a Toa of Light's power. Light- as used by the Toa- possesses heat as well as illumination, so it can be used for attacks either powerful or precise. It is most valuable, however, for it's "supernatural" abilities. It can be used to heal illness by purging foreign, harmful substances; It can reveal rooms and objects concealed by physical barriers; The list goes on to glorify Mata Nui's power. Most notably, Light is the only power that can banish Darkness that has touched someone or something, even Makuta himself. Solecc is quite capable with controlling Light. He is also a skilled healer (without his powers), traveler, and negotiator. In addition to his pure character traits, he appeals to people well with his willingness to try understanding where they come from and has won many allies and friends on his journey.

The Kanohi Avohkii is as sacred as anything can be in this universe. Any Matoran can become a Toa, but NO ONE, Matoran or Toa, becomes a Toa of Light without the Avohkii. The Avohkii is light incarnated by Mata Nui himself to infuse the wearer with his power and guide them to fulfill their duty. While the mask was destined for a specific purpose, anyone can technically wear it. However, those who would attempt such a thing with an unprepared mind will find themselves critically- even fatally- overwhelmed by the Kanohi's power. This is why the Disciples of Light isolate themselves at great length from civilization, to protect the mask and to protect others.
