Description Oy, this is the exact reason why I don't do digital works. Chaotzu looks downright freaky.

Aw, you didn't use Multiply layers?

It's not bad. I'm glad you're still sticking with fighting scenes. Not enough people do them, in my opinion.

Actually this pic was my first experiment with Illustrator. I just got so ashamed that I never redo the work. I still can't believe I posted this up.

So true. Hardly anyone I've seen on DA do them. Too challenging I think for most. Not only do you have to come up with a wicked pose but you have to keep the balance and the animated feel to it.

In fact only your works are the only ones that I've found so far like this.

I find it rare to come across anywhere. And dA is probably the biggest art community I've been to, so that's saying a lot if neither of us really sees them.

It can be hard, but everything can be, when you're first learning it with no experience.

Why, thanks a lot.
I think I got good practice in when I was younger, like between 10-15. Back then, I wasn't focusing on drawing perfectly, since I didn't even know anything ABOUT drawing properly. So all my energy just went into drawing whatever I felt like, without worrying how it looked. Fight scenes / action were one of those things.

Now that I'm older and draw more properly, I'm too focused on making sure it looks right, and not just doing what I want. So the early experience with all the fighting and action really helped. I think people have to just let go; draw what you're trying to, and not worry about making mistakes. You can get a feel for it without worrying about doing a proper picture, then when you're comfortable, you can actually work towards making it look GOOD too.

So true! We all begin this way. Though first works are usually not well proportioned or clean, they set up the stage for our own style of drawing. Don't get me wrong, I love Toriyama's works but it's even more interesting to see other people's depictions of the same characters. That's what I love about fanart.

Yea. Thank Jebus I drew when I was younger, and didn't know about the many errors I made. I don't know if I'd be the same today.

I love fanart that uses original styles too, but sadly, I don't actually see many that do that at all.
