Description
Oil on hardboard (16"x20")When I painted this picture in b&w acrylics, I didn't intend to do anything else to it. But the longer I looked at it, the more it begged for color. So here it is. Colored in oil.
B&w acrylic painted in one night, and colored in one night.
The grisaille can be found here: [link]

Loud like a circus I hope. LOL At least that was the aim. Thanks again Rachel. You should dig out the paints. Get messy with them. LOL

I like the color version better than the b&w, because the absurdity of using "Hitler" next to "3 Ring Circus" needs some color to set off the circus theme. The primary red, yellow, blue, and green works, makes it jump out and glow.

Thank you very much. Yeah, a b&w circus didn't really strike me as right either. LOL

Your colors are different than they used to be. I notice the man is walking on the edge of pit. He'll either fall into the arms of his masses, or the blackness of the pit, or keep walking the narrow edge. Nicely done bro.

Thanks. Kinda looks like the colors I used in the "Fun House" painting. I didn't really mean for him to be Hitler. Just reminded me of him after I finished. Funny thinking about Hitler being a circus attraction though. Thanks for the fav too.

I love the rendering of that green shirt and blue jeans. That figure pops right out of the image. Those colors seem so powerful and contrasting, but I've come to expect that from you, of course...

Thank you very much Jeff. I know you prefer the b&w version better, and most of the time, so do I. But since it's circus theme, I thought some bright colors would lend itself nicely to it. I hadn't planned on coloring it (thus the full range of tones from black to white) but, I just couldn't resist. BTW, thanks for the fav on the b&w version.

One night is impressive Jeff! Colours are most striking, vivid. Is it glazed or completely overpainted?

Thanks Bill. Mostly glazed, but there is some opaque paint in the highlights.
