Description
Oil on masonite panel. This is a bit on the cutesy for my taste, but my wife likes it. So here it is. My dad named it. (combo jeff and giraffe)
It's another old one, but I should be posting brand new stuff in the very near future. Soon as I run out of old stuff. Or at least until I can't find anything I would show.
Also check out the work of my best friend Mark (arum) Masters [link] He's AMAZING !

My brain isn't sure whether or not it should focus on the giraffe or on the face.
Nice work.

Nice use of negative space, and a very creative name. I like the rocks--they look like a nautilus, or a snail shell, or even small caves. Surrealism at its finest.

I love this! You're on crack..."cutesy." Ya killin' me!!!

Did you know that the human face is the first thing we are humans are able to reconize. That's why I love pictures with hidden, or not so hidden faces, because the mind knows that it isn't a human face, but it wants it to be because it is the most familure thing to it. We try to make order out of chaos

Actually, I never even thought about the human face like that. Something to keep in mind though. I feel like "making order out of chaos" is what surreal art is about. I could be wrong about that, but that's how I approach it.
Thank you very much for the comment. You're awesome.

Will you stop making me think?! I only a have a few free frictating neurouns at the moment and now they're on overdrive. Here let me share.
In this piece the first thing I noticed was the face of the giraffe then as I travelled around the painting a bit I began to notice other things trees grass funky knees mountains then the face when I stepped back and looked at it again. It was only after staring at the eyes of the face for a bit that I noticed the mouth and only recently percieved that the clouds look rather like hair.
Then I read the above comment and began to wonder if order is being made out of chaos or chaos out of order? For example we are familiar with the face but I for one am not familiar with a face appearing in a cloud formation and being framed by a tree and a giraffe. My mind immediately saw the simple and categorised it and only after feeling that sense of something not quite right and the consequent second look did I begin to pick up on the really neat things you did.
I suppose this says more about my mind than your wonderful bit of work here but I though I would share my thoughts.
Well done!

WHAT ? There's a face in my picture ? ! ? lol
Thanks man. Your thoughts are always welcome. I enjoy them greatly.
My opinion on the order/chaos thing is that chaos is a complicated form of organization. Example: Let's say you have a line of marbles. Five white then five black. They would still be orderly if it were one white, one black, one white ect. But it's a more complex organization. A bit like mathmatical pie. It seems chaotic, but the string of numbers are always the same. They don't repeat, but are always the same.
There I go on another rant. Sorry.
Thank you very much for your comment.
Your friend, Jeff

Yeah, the mind fascinates me, that is why I like surreal so much, because it is all about the mind.
Thank you!
