This is modeled after Michaelangelo's "Statue of David" (c. 1501–1504), which is a masterpiece of Italian Renaissance sculpture.My piece of art features a young and strong David, son of Jesse (1 Samuel 16:11), pasturing a flock of sheep in the hillside of Bethlehem (1 Samuel 17:15). David was a mighty youth who dared to fight off bears and lions who saught to prey upon his sheep (1 Samuel 17:34-36).
