Everything you say is nothing less than the truth. Crude and rude.

I will use your advice. The practice will be good.

I feel something wrong with being the guy who always does the faces just the same. Just because I do not know anything about anatomy.

Ever since I started making my own tutorial on this subject I've been collecting other tutorials on it too, and linking to them. Everyone explains a bit differently and it's nice to see all the different angles and things I might have missed.

Your tutorial is so much more succinct than mine!

red-nova In reply to ??? [2011-03-04 22:30:32 +0000 UTC]

Alright, so I have a ridiculous question: I understand that all eyes should be different shapes, but when you're first constructing the face, do you start off with just drawing circles (For "eyeballs") and draw the shapes of the lids over them, or do you just draw the shape of the eye (As if it were wide open) and draw the lids over that?

I favor the latter method, but it's not really working for me anymore. But I'm afraid that if I tried the circle-as-eyeball method, that all my eyes would be shaped the same.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

jeinu In reply to red-nova [2011-03-05 18:41:08 +0000 UTC]

well if you think about it, all eyeballs are shaped the same (except for people will astigmatism i guess). it helps to understand the structure of the eye if you start out with a circle/sphere imo. bulging eyes are more forward in the face than deep-set eyes, which are more sunken into the skull.

once you're more familiar with the underlying structure it's easier to start taking shortcuts like just drawing the eyes shape from the get-go.

Thankyou sooo~ much. These tutorials are incredibly informative and helpful, and they'll prevent people (like me) from making mistakes when they want to make an original unique OC. xD The nose tips helped very much too, because usually I see (and I do it too) mostly one type of nose, but when you put variety it becomes more real.

I cannot thank you enough~ :3
