Description
Hey! I have two webcomics where you can see this in action: Miamaska and Trial of the Sun . If you liked these tutorials give them a shot!Check out part 1:The Body- fav.me/d2j3z86
Check out part 2:Lady Faces- fav.me/d2k4ym6
Part 3: Male Faces! Long awaited I know. I'm terrible. Next one's in two-three months, on age and weight! I am quite terrible at giving estimates. Hopefully it'll come out in August!
All those characters up there are copyrighted to their respective owners, I do not claim ownership to any of them.
This tutorial series was inspired in part by an article on the TvTropes website. tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php... Click there to see more examples!

Thank you very much for all three parts of this tutorial - they look really helpful, and when I have some time to sit down and do some serious character design I'll be coming back to these for ideas.

incredibly informative. I just wish some people would actually implement this to their work. Hopefully this will get to the front pages and more people will see it.

Great work! Very insightful tutorial with plenty of details that seem to be lacking with most. Not only are you tackling a more original subject, but there's also more than enough here that should help out quite a few people. Also dropped a few things in their that I'll have to look closer for with my own work . Kudos!

Great tutorial!
Very neat and tidy with a lot of good points and tips!
I find it particularly interesting as it high-lights one of my "problem areas", I struggle with consitency for the same character and differentiating between different characters
I also suspect this comes from my lack of training, I'm still in that phase where I draw by the generic rules for how a face looks, as I'm not too familiar with drawing humans
Now I'm off to check the other tutorials

getting consistency with a character comes with practice-- it helps if you break them down to their most basic shapes. that way you can easily replicate those shapes and just build the character from there!
glad you enjoy this series as well

I've mostly been drawing my characters piece bye piece, so it looks kinda strange with a nose there and an eye here on an big sheet of paper, but it helps me to show the differences between them^^
Definetly gonna have your tutorials in mind the next time I sit down to draw

This is really great. I do that thing sometimes where I draw a squiggle and make a head from it haha XD cool to see Iām not the only one! The various examples you put are really great guides for a person learning shapes (or any artist who just wants to look at different shapes and get inspired). Haha I agree that seeing so many artists draw that same pointy chin style drives me up the wall! Hopefully they will take a hint from this and see the great variety they are missing out on Great work and thanks for sharing

haha yeah, i can't remember where i learned that squiggle trick, but it really seems to help if i just do exercises like that for 10 minutes. anyway glad you enjoyed it!
