Description
contest entry part 3 of 3!This is the water/fire one, and my final entry.
I do intend to use this fake later as I had what now is an awesome pre-evo for this doodled earlier.
This is Osprile. The concept is more obscure as far as water/ fire goes, but it works really awesomely with Egyptian Mythology. Think of it as having to do with Osiris and Ra. Ra was the god of the sun with a falcon head (though my version really is more eagle-looking), and Osiris was the god of the dead. The two (primarily Osiris) were among the more important gods in Egypt, and as a nice little side note, it was thought that Osiris died and was reborn each day with the passage of the sun. Therefore, when you died, you crossed the Nile to the west. So, if you smash Osiris, Ra, the Nile, and Ospreys in place of falcons, you get Osprile.
Osprile has, methinks, the best backstory of any of my entries.

Osprile is a pokemon that was revered in very ancient times as a symbol of death. To be sacrificed in the name of Osprile was the highest honor, and religious buildings had shrines dedicated to them. Killing Ospriles was highly illegal. With their water they brought moisture to the ground and with their powers of the sun they made plants grow. This was, understandably another reason to keep Ospriles pleased. Today, they are known for their dignified poise and their reserved nature. They rule among desert pokemon because of their unifying and diplomatic nature. They are loyal to death, and have been known to kill themselves if their trainer dies. Many suspect that if you were to be able to look into the afterlife you would find many Ospriles and their trainers together.

Still one of my favourites!

I wanted to have feet on it but I was having trouble making them fit with the design so I then put on wings and it made more sense. XD
And thanks despite it!~

Woah - amazing lines. I love this. Excellent job - when I saw it I instantly thought of Canadian mythology - that bird reminds me of the raven somehow.

Nobody's ever given me a good lesson in North American mythology, ironically. But I feel like I'm vaguely aware of what you're talking about... I'm sure if I could remember more I'd be agreeing with you. ^^
