Description Working on a new picture of Maggie - these are the pencils. I decided to go with a bit of a cheesecakey flair (what else is new?), but with a wholesome sort of twist - she's just there, after all - nothing trumped up or overtly "tart" about it. It's just Maggie being Maggie, and all.

This is part of a process. I'll do the inks (and possibly the colors) later.

Photo ref used for body posture and drapery - all other features done on my own.

... Also, note that her breasts are deformed a bit by the way her hands are holding them - this is because breasts are smooshy, and pliable. I strongly suggest that anyone wishing to draw them take a life drawing class. Preferably several.

Nice work. Could be a pin-up, with her direct gaze and teasing peek-a-boo state of undress.

Thank you! I wish I could get my art mojo back enough to do more like this one, but it's a long, arduous road to walk.

Glad you like it!

Totally understand about trying to get back the ol' "art mojo". A long road it is.

Nice drawing, now for some shading right? And I agree about the whole life drawing thing...

Inking first, I think. Then colors and whatnot. Just need to decide if I want to use pens to ink it, or the computer...

Pens, go old school my man... As opposed to me... I'm just old.

Thank you! I really do feel like I aped the model too much, but I'll make it up when I ink her.

Oh, that looks -really- good. It's more realistic than I've seen from you before - when did you get all awesome on me?

I made heavy use of the figure model for lighting and posture and form, and I think that helped. As far as realism goes, the face is pretty much my standard reduced line format, but check out her eyes - they're MUCH smaller than I'd normally draw them, as well, the angle is completely off from my normal "comic pinup" angles.

Really, I think I aped the model too much. I need to go through and make the hair more of Maggie's traditional style, and fill out her cheeks a bit. I look at her, and she could be anyone... although ironically enough, when I first drew Maggie (as you can still see over at my EW gallery), she was about this thin-faced.

And thank you.

It's the eyes that did it - I don't know if I ever remembered to say anything, but I've been meaning to mention to you that smaller eyes would look better, in my ever so humble opinion. They really look good.

I'm not going to ding you for aping the model as hey, you DREW something, only if you continue to ape will I get on your case. *g* Hell, sometimes it helps to ape occasionally just to get the brain back on track - if you didn't have a decent knowledge of anatomy already it would have shown through. That doesn't mean I'm not glad you're going to come back to this and refine it, though. She doesn't look Maggie enough yet.

Also YAY YOU ARE DRAWING AGAIN. Woot!

Yeah, her cheeks need to be filled out a bit. Right now, she looks like the first versions of Maggie I ever drew - which might not be so bad because the current Maggie is rather cartoony...

I'm trying the small eye thing lately.

And yeah! Woot!

See my reply to about what I see wrong with it. I like it, too - but I'm my own worst critic.
