Description I made this so I could enter in a competition where each participant had to either take a picture, our draw some kind of path/entrance/door to a fairy realm.
To do this, I got some inspiration from Juliet Marillier's "Wildwood Dancing". I'm not completely satisfied with the colours, and my scanner messed up the left side a bit. I like the girl and the trees though.

Anyway, wish me luck!

**Edit: I won!

This is simply stunning. I've read the book, and found it fascinating. I can definitely see where you drew your inspriation from.
You seem really awesome, too, and seem to have the same taste in stories as me. Any good books you can recommend?
Once again, superb artwork. Well done.

Juliet is the best...I love her work so much.

Aww, thank you, it's very sweet of you to say that!
Well, first recommendation: everything by Juliet Marillier, unless you've read it all already. I also love Robin McKinley, "Beauty" and "Deerskin" are absolute favorites of mine. This year I finally read something by Diana Wynne Jones, and she's amazing... "Howl's Moving Castle" and "Castle in the Air" are both excellent. Sherwood Smith's "Crown Duel" is my favorite read of this year, it's so, so, SO good. I like Patricia A. McKillip too, and Shannon Hale! OMG, "The Goose Girl" is one of my favorite books ever. "Poison Study" by Maria V.Snyder and "The Hollow Kingdom" by Clare B.Dunkle = must reads!

Any good recommendations for me? ;D

Okay, cool. I've read the Diana Wynne Jones ones, as well as "The Goose Girl", and one by Robin McKinley.

The Robin McKinley one is "Spindle's End". Really good, but you've probably read it, heh? I also thoroughly enjoy all the "Percy Jackson" and "Heroes of Olympus" books by Rick Riordan. Simple, but good and funny. "Septimus Heap" by Angie Sage is another great book series, as well as the "Curse Workers" by Holly Black; book 1 is "White Cat" and 2 is "Red Glove". "Fablehaven" by Brandon Mull is another reaaly great series. Also, "Dog Boy" by Eva Hornung, "Wuthering Heights" by Emily Bronte, a book called "Sorcery and Cecelia", the "Obernewtyn Chronicles" by Isobelle Carmody and another book called "Alyzon Whitestarr" by her. Fab reads. lastly, the "Hunger Games" series by Suzanne Collins, but you've probably heard of them, and the "Moorehawke" Trilogy by Celine Kiernan. That author actually has an account on here: tinycoward.

So...long response...sorry about that (:
Thanks for your recommendations.

Oh, lovely!
Wow, we really seem to have a similar reading taste because I have almost every one of these on my wishlist, but a few of them like Septimus Heap, I had never heard about until now, so thank you for the recommendations!
I'm actually reading the Obernewtyn series right now, I finished book #3 a few weeks ago, and I'll be picking up the next one soon (now that things are finally getting serious between Elspeth and Rushton! I love them). Wuthering Heights is one of my favorites of all time also, I love all the major classics. I've been meaning to read the Percy Jackson books for a long time now, I really need to get my hands on a couple of those books and just do it already. The Hunger Games - love. Didn't like the third book in the series though
Yes, I've read Spindle's End, but it's not one of my favorites by the author that would be Deerskin, hands down. It's quite dark, and it breaks the reader's heart into tiny pieces at a point, but I love it...

Oh, don't be sorry about that! look at my response.. xD

Hehe, I suppose we're both fans of in-depth answers. It's alright.

I know, I hated the last Hunger Games book. Grr. I shipped Katniss/Gale, so I was very angry ): And my favourite character (Finnick) died. Argh! The most recent Obernewtyn (The Sending) is heart wrenching. I seriously love them. Only one more to go! Mwahahaha. Yeah, I love all the classics too, Little Women, Jane Eyre, Sense and Sensibility, etc. Percy jackson is a pretty easy read, but so worthwile: the characters and storyline are usually funny and always awesome. No worries about Septimus Heap; it's not very well known. I'll definitely try to get my hands on Deerskin; sounds like a good read!
And I know, I love Elspeth/Rushton. You could totally see it coming (:
Long response...again. Oh well.

Have you read The Alchemist by Paulo Choelo? (I think that's how you spell his name...) Anyway, it's also amazing. You should seriously get your hands on it (:

And thanks.
