Pixel icon commission for alexpeanut They asked for their horse character Delu, standing with their mane and tail swaying in the wind.

The commissioner had two options with this order, either I'd draw one base colour and crop the mane around it or i redrew the mane and tail colours for each frame. That's the one they chose and thus this icon took forever to colour. The mane and tail have 6 colours blended together to create a galaxy effect with the colours as well as the stars that I decided to add. I also wanted to really push the fact that this horse is black. As I was looking up black horses I noticed they had very distinctive shimmery effect on their fur. So I added in some shimer fur highlights to the character which i believe really makes it pop. I love the colours of this character, I love galaxy themed characters but it was a pain to actually colour it with pixels. The legs of this piece are a lot thinner than I'm used to at the request of the commissioner but I believe they work very well for the subject. My normal style didn't quite work as it made the legs appear too thick. Normally I wouldn't go with a 1 px thick leg for something as it would mean the lineart would take up more space but because the character is dark i feel it worked quite well. I love the result of this icon overall.
