Originally, Roe asked for a simple blinking bob animation. But upon choosing the character [I was given a few to select from] I chose the one that would be something different. While working on the initial sketch I had the idea to animate the character rotating it's head around in that creepy fashion owls are known for. Obviously they can't turn their head all the way around like this but the idea was just to play on that idea given the fact that Otto has two forms one a lot more creepy than the other. And thus this was born. Because the additional complexity to the icon was my idea and out of the commissioners budget i was perfectly fine taking art as payment for the additional costs. I wanted the challenge of animating it although antlers are hard at the best of times, let alone when animating them spinning. I ended up changing the colours a bit as they're were distinguishable from the white colour on the character. I also spent ages on the hooved feet for the deer body only to discover the character has bird feet haha
