Ahh, Castlevania... bane and joy since Castlevania II: Simon's Quest. I am totally enraptured with the love story behind the game of Symphony of the Night. I would like to believe that they got together after Symphony... she does run after him, after all...
This pic is more of a tender moment between the two. I love the shojou feel to it, and I LOVE the long flowy hair! It's come a long way since the sketch. I'm really enjoying the watercolor effects, too. I wanted to show the paper as well, so there's the ragged edge on the side. Major props to Ayami Kojima as a huge inspiration to me and my art, and Michiru Yamane for her lovely music to paint and work to.

By the way, they do get together after SOTN. This is shown in the Japan only radio drama, Nocturne of Recollection, which is considered by Konami as canon to the series. Just thought I'd let you know.

Their is someone on LiveJournel whos working on a translation. The last time I checked it wasnt finished, but that was a long time ago. I do know they have the first part translated and posted.

I see so much fanfiction where Alucard kills Maria and Richter totally losing his humanity in the process, and it disgusts me. Because in each case we have seen Alucard during and since Symphony, he has been all about fighting on the side of those weaker than he. I think it is fitting irony, and damned poetic, the notion that Maria, rather than slaying Alucard as a monster, melts his frozen heart just a little and brings some light into his eternal darkness. That's what true romance is about. In the end of Symphony, Alucard even managed to make his wretched father feel pity and remorse. It's the highest point in the series as far as I am concerned.

Yep, you're totally right. I get frustrated with those annoying fanfics, too. I mean HELLO! Alucard totally went AGAINST his father and the whole "kill humans" thing... He is the original Angsty/Brooding Vampire Posterboy. Stupid fanfic'rs...
Ooh, you're right, that IS a beautiful irony! (I had kinda forgotten that she was on her general hit-list when she entered the castle...) Everyone seems to forget that Maria can kick crap and take names with the best of them... she's FAR from a helpless maiden... and if push came to shove, she'd kickbox so much magic energy up his nose he'd be sneezing sparkles and fireworks for the next century....
So yeah... I see about 0.0000000001% chance of Alucard going feral on ANYBODY good. Heck, he doesn't even go all vampire on the baddies. (those are probably the same people who think Belldandy has a super secret inner-b*tch.. those who just flat don't understand the character.)

Well, it's like you said: they simply do not understand the character. It's beyond the pale to think that a man who sealed himself and his power away for 350 years would succumb to simple bloodlust. It's madness. I may be the only straight man out there who knew instantly that Genya Arikado (hello? Alucard in Kana?) was Alucard and was actually HAPPY to see him when he showed up in Aria of Sorrow. It reaffirmed my faith in that character. I only wish Igarashi would come forward and say one way or the other is Eric Lecarde was actually the son of Alucard and Maria. Or perhaps the grandson, given the timeframe. lol (the Alucard Spear in Dawn of Sorrow and the Lecarde Spear from Bloodlines look identical...)
