It seems like it's taking me longer and longer to finish pieces rather than quicker/easier.
Regardless, I picked up a little technique about 9/10ths of the way through (
) this work that might help me expedite my shading/highlighting in the future (here's hoping 
)Anyway, this is my submission for the Tails Fan Art Contest being put on by Sonic Universe currently. Should I be lucky enough to be chosen I'll have to take it down since Archie will officially own the rights to it, but I thought I'd share it 'til then.
(EDIT: After doing some digging apparently I misunderstood when Archie said "Artwork will not be returned, and all art submitted becomes the property of Archie Comics..." According to Ian over at BumbleKing that simply means that we won't get the artwork back. And here I thought it meant the intellectual property as well.)
Inspired by the first cover in the current arc. I thought I'd juxtapose the maturation and emotional growth Tails is going through. I see him coming out of this much stronger and grown-up as I'm sure is pretty obvious if you've been reading. Hence what you see here.

Tails is an awesome Sonic character/sidekick since Sonic The Hedgehog 2. He still hangs around with Sonic and the others in case of a very important mission, but sometimes, he can do things on his own. ^_^ And that's what I like about Tails. Even though he is 8-11 years old and he is getting his redesign on the Sonic Boom series, he is still an awesome character in the series!

Rorschach was easily my favorite character in that story. The cafeteria scene was so badass I grew a beard as I watched it. Hated to see him go out the way he did.
Now if Tails grew up to be just like him... well Sonic would have to killed right before him for that to happen. Otherwise he'd just be a shitty mentor.

The perspective in this picture makes him look really powerful, well i basically love everything about this picture, this is the most bad ass tails I've ever seen.
He sorta looks like he can be a leader now. Congrats on a fantastic pic

Ack! You'll get me all depressed over here if you talk like that. Every skill level and every style is being considered by the judges according to Ian. You have every much a chance as I in the competition. And after seeing Pilot Without A Plane I don't think you have any reason to worry. I like your addition of his scarf and goggles and the pose is very fitting. I thank you for the compliments though, and I wish you luck.

I've always been a bigger fan of his gauntlet style gloves as opposed to the traditional rolled sleeve style gloves.
