Description
The Virgin Mary holding the baby Jesus in her arms while angels surround them. A very beautiful image of peace and care. This is a drawing based on a painting by William-Adolphe Bouguereau called The Virgin with Angels. Always wanted to give it a try and I am pleased with how it turned out.
Made with colored pencils.

I always did love how Bouguereau did his wings, they are more thin that most, easily the best angel wings I have seen to go off of.

Thanks, and I agree Bouguereau is amazing. His paintings are simply great. And must have been awesome seeing one in person. Too bad there are not artists like that around now a days ;o) The old masters were and still are the best I feel...

i've seen 2 others of his but that one was by far the most impressive. the funny thign is i didnt even know it was at that particular museum and when i walked into the room, my back was to it and when i turned around there i was face to face with this masterpiece, i am not kidding i nearly fell over, lol! no doubt there were some great artists from centuries past and i have many books on them and love thier work but i still love the 20th century illustrators and comic guys the best
