SOLD $160My latest drawing of the Pieta. Still a work in progress, I changed the direction of her face, now facing down to the right instead of left. I should have probably taken the version of this a little more zoomed out to capture the cloth over the head this time. Still a work in progress at the moment.
Made with colored pencils, two of them to be exact.

You have done such a beautiful job on your drawings of the Pieta! I have always loved that statue. It is absolutely breathtaking and you have captured her expression wonderfully. It has the same "feel" to it as the statue itself. Very, very beautifully done!!!!

Thanks, I am glad you like it. And just like anything just takes time, took easily over 200 drawings to even be ok at it. Wish it was just natural talent but at least for me I had to practice a lot and I am still practicing.

It has the air of dimension about it - like you can tell it's from a statue, not a photograph or drawing. Love just the hint of color in the shadows. (And since you have a cool color in the shadows, if you added a touch of warm color in the highlights you could really make this pop!)

Thanks for the tip, assuming it would be yellows as the warm colors. Might try that on my next one, already tried it to improve an older drawing of mine and it is working well, thanks.

Just something I picked up in an art class that seemed to fit this piece especially well - the blue shadows are beautiful. The warms could be yellows, but also orange or red too.
