I wanted to post, what I believed to be an iconic image of the beloved Ronnie James Dio, who was taken away from us this morning after a battle with stomach cancer.Dio is the greatest vocalist in metal and paved the way for metal to exist in the capacity it does today.
to say this is the most tragic loss in metal history, is a vast understatement.
RIP Dio. You will forever be the flame of which no one could ever hold a candle to.

NOTE - DD: Thanks so much for the DD - i feel so honored, but even more so, I am very happy that this is also honoring the greatest singer in metal of all time. Lets remember how amazing his music, his words, and everything that he gave to us. We should celebrate his presence - as it truely was a gift. RIP DIO.

Congratulations on your Daily deviation. I had the oportunity to see DIO live last year, and even when fighting against cancer, he had the cleanest voice ever, he danced, headbanged and made an awesome performance. This is a great loss for Metal, and also, for singers. He is the true rainbow in the dark.

Didn't really hear much of his music till I started hanging out with my uncle(he showed me that the logo on Dio albums turned up side down reads as "Devil") He did have a pretty good voice for a dude his size,and he sorta looked like Clint Howard(director Ron Howard's younger brother)

IΒ΄m not a huge fan of his music, but I saw a DVD with Interviews from a metal festival which also includes a interview with him, and it seemed to me that he was a really nice and funny man, itΒ΄s sad and I feel bad for everyone, who liked him and his music
