Description
WB Product Art, Kayley, Devon & Cornwall, QUEST FOR CAMELOT. Pencil. Tough composition, with the character scale. Forced-perspective is your friend! lol However, I try to use this device sparingly. Otherwise, a piece of art can look too gimmicky, and over-styled. Not useful for mainstream product application. Forced-perspective, distortions, and extreme angles are just "camera" tricks... tools in an artist's storytelling toolbox. The objective should always be to convey an idea or tell story using the appropriate tool. The fancier tricks can enhance the illusion, or wreck the piece by overwhelming the viewer. Here, I wanted to stress the exhilaration of flight, but include some disorientation.Related content

I used model sheets from the animators directly as reference, and I created my own original illustration.

Not freakin' bad!
I still say those two shoulda been more...well, more draconic looking. But it's a kid's movie, so the "realism/cool" factor dies most of the time.
Hehehehhh. Big, black drake with two heads that are always arguing. Now THAT would look cool!

This one is amazing, it's so balanced and the anatomy is perfect...it must have been hard to get the perspective, angles and porportions right for all the characters. I really like Kayley's expression and the added butterflies, it makes it look magical...fanastic job!

This one was tough, mainly due to the complex angle, and trying to fit all the elements in the required space while appropriately "cheating" enough to also convey the characters' expressions. Every illustration has the burden of telling a story as well as depicting an attractive image. There are obviously things I would now do differently, having grown as an artist. But growth is essential for creative people, and looking back with second thoughts is to be expected.

Wow, this is lovely! Devon and Cornwall were my favorite characters in that movie, and it's hard too find good fanart of them, so this is a treat. And the perspective is really cool. Awesome!

You really do this? Not that I doubt, but I was given coloring pages from Quest For Camalot and this image was one of them. Forgive my skepticism.

Sorry for the very late reply.
But, you say that you do not 'doubt,' yet then you ask forgiveness for your 'skepticism.' Speak your mind clearly. An honest question, courteously asked, carries with it no offense.
To answer: Everything has to come from somewhere. Where do you think the coloring book company got the license to print their Quest images? And then look carefully at the "Artist's Comments" I voluntarily posted. See where it says "WB Product Art?" This indicates that I provided this image for Warner Bros Marketing, thereby making it available for outside companies to license, and use, including for replicated use in coloring book pages.
So, yes, I really did this, and no, I'm not a plagiarist.
I hope that clears things up, and again, sorry for replying so late.

Whoa awesome O_o
Yeah I can see what you mean by fish-eye or forced perspective can look gimmicky, but I'm still trying to master freehand realistic perspective and forced perspective, so I never really hear about when it's a good idea to use them. This certainly helps a lot.
