so the idea for this one started with my constant increase of hatred towards Safeway.They hired me back in December sometime and made it perfectly clear that my "unique" image had to go. In order to be hired I had to chop off a huge portion of my bangs, strip it clean of ALL 'un-natural' color, shave everyday and take my peircings out before every shift. I also had to wear black polishable work shoes, black grandpa-style pants, and have my shirt and uniform pressed and clean for my shift, with my hair combed neatly and out of my face.
Anyways yeah, this is my therapy in a sense. Being that I couldn't actually lash out or anything of that nature, I drew myself being as spooky and weird as I could. I dreamed of actually doing this at work on NUMEROUS occasions.

When I got hired at Safeway they told me the blue hair had to go and my eyebrow piercing had to be "not visible". I asked about wearing a clear retainer in it and was told I may do this or put a bandaid over it. So I dyed my hair black and went to bed with a bandaid over my eyebrow. Customers would comment and I would tell them about the policy, unanimously they felt it was stupid. In fact the only negative comment I ever received, if you can even call it that, was a guy saying he didn't know how "us kids could do that to ourselves" but he wasn't offended by it by any means.
Every day after the big boss went home the underlings all told me to just take the bandaid off because it looked better. Again I was never turned in and no one ever complained to my boss about it. The bandaid did cause considerable flare up of the piercing though which I have finally gotten rid of. When I got my snakebit I put little squares of flesh material on the end of the posts to cover them until I could get a retainer at least.
One day the boss went beserk and called in everyone with so much as an ear piercing and told them they had to take them all out by their next shift or leave. I phoned my union rep and pretty much found out they could do dick for me even though this was breech of a verbal contract (the ability to wear retainers or cover my piercings). I got called in the office they buttered me up saying I was the best new cashier they had ever had...end of story take them out or leave. I said bye and scrawled Martyred for Individuality across my name on the schedule, dropped off my apron and name tag, threw out my khaki shirt and went to hand out resumes for the rest of the day.
The next day I got hired at Arby's for more money. Today I'm a shift manager there making far more money, blue hair, back of my head shaved and my piercings fully displayed :-P

Entirely straight up, this is a wicked drawing. Cackled out loud before even reading the author's comments, because I knew where it was coming from.
My roommate worked at the downtown Kelowna safeway for about six months, and she had the exact same problem. Chop up the hair, rip out the colours, take out around 5 piercings every shift. Shave her face.... /erm
Anyway, she told them to eat a bag of badger smegma and got on at Arby's, where she makes more money for less work and gets to have her piercings and funky hair. Arby's is also cool with trying to work around your schedule for school and stuff.

oh yeah..laura was sitting next to me in 1st hr. on like wed. or somethin but anyway we were trying..well not really, to write down questions out of a book or somethin and i had like 12 ques. and laura had one and she had a drawing of a boi with tentacles like coming to take over the world it was crazy and really awesome..But the teacher came to pick up her paper and laura goes.."Yeah I kinda didn't right anything I drew somethin in stead..."...But thankfully we have an awesome and completley oblivios L.A. teacher so it all worked out.....The boys..and litterally boys play there nintendo DS or somethin like that all hour..our teacher finally figured it like a week ago after they were playing them in class for 3 weeks....im sorry I talk a lot.

Sad fact of life...Futureshop is no better...actually, no, mine's pretty linient about hair DYING...i dunno about colours, though one of our merch girls had hot pink streaks for a while...and i mean...the POLISHABLE BLACK SHOES THING

i wore my chucks to work on night beause my friend was picking me up from work and we were going straight to her place...and they were i mean, black...and the front white part can be polished i suppose...but my manager Tiffany was like "*STARE* they. must. be. black, polishables."

My Aunt Works a Domincks thats owned by Safeway...and the decided to randomly close 14 stores...hers being one.
and now 800 people are out of jobs..
i pretty much dislike safeway with a strong passion.
