I was originally going to post this into scraps, but I figured meh, why not ? and dumped it here for strangers to see whilst being directed to my profile by a couple of you's amazing friends whoring me around right now (thank you)
anyways yeah, before you throw staplers, scanners, or pickle jars at my head please note that this was an experiment of mine.
I wanted to see if I could paint a detailed portrait on photoshop with my tablet using 100% opacity and flat colors. The thing about tablets is they're very pressure sensitive, so presumably you could shade things in like you would with ballpoint. This was my attempt. A LOT HARDER THAN BALLPOINT, but still the same effect.

the only reason it looks like that was because I was painting entirely with pressure sensitivity, so the scratchy skin tones is just me trying REALLY hard not to paint his face black xP

I LOVE ballpoint pens, they're kind of hard to control the shading at first, but once you get going, it looks amazing.

But one of the nice things about ballpoint pens is that they're not 100% opaque. But yes, tablets take forever to learn how to use decently.

I love my tablet to death, but I usually just change the opacity and make things pretty that way. I've never attempted to paint with pressure sensitivity before, it was spooky.
