'On The Other Side' by Bats and Jess n.4
Hello and welcome to the fourth issue of "On the other side." With Bats and Jess
jesseboy000 and I "came up with the idea to create a gallery folder within Progressive-Street
that showcases some of our personal favorites that are street photos a little off-kilter from the usual.
As you can see in our header image we give a brief wording of what we look for in these images we choose to add.
Of the images we choose, we wanted to share our thoughts of why and how they stand out,
why they are a little unique to the more traditional s

A great job with the shutter speed, Jesse. It brings music to life.

Beautiful. When I imagine someone rocking out on a piano, these are the movements I see in my head

Oh yes right on the spot. Thanks! I almost had too much light to do this! But glad I tried!
Thanks Richard!

I hate it when that happens!Β I was trying capture dance motion recently, but I was shooting at 800 ASA in a fairly bright studio, so I had to stop down to f/22, even though I would have preferred more shallow DoF from a larger aperture.Β B&W film is fairly forgiving with overexposure, but I didn't want to push it. (hahaha!Β I just made a film joke! I'll have to remember that one! )
But it's like driving a stick-shift car: the ol' gas/clutch balancing act. . .

Love the joke!
It's rare to have too much light, usually I battle with needing more light, so it's surprising to have the opposite occur, but it does happen!

Thanks!
But you're right, it's rare to have too much light, and B&W film is so forgiving with "overexposure," but not so much the other way around.Β How do you meter with your Leica?Β Do you use a hand-held?

I have noticed that b/w film is alright with overexposing as compared to under. I've always wanted to try pulling film. Like trix at 320 for some portraits.
I shoot with a new Leica MP now, I saved up for it forever, it has a meter in the viewfinder like say the m6, otherwise completely mechanical, I bought it at an actual Leica store at the Bellevue mall. I just fell in love with it. Sold my m3 towards it.
Before When i was shooting with the m3 I carried a little pocket meter around or often approximated (half the time or more missingΒ which pissed me off )
