Description
This is actually only part of a larger illustration that Iβm working on, but this character stood out quite well so I turned this detail into an illustration in itβs own right. I love swords, particularly the Italian Sidesword and Scottish baskethilt, and this character, a wealthy Italian countess, probably from around Lombardy who, to amuse herself, moonlights as a swashbuckling highwayman during the 16th century. Very much an anti-hero at best. Any comments welcome!Pen and Ink on Bristol Board, colored in photoshop

Very pretty sword. I'm a fan of that type too.
Also, VERY good job on the costume. It's got some complex drapery and you've captured it really well.

Thank you, the drapery did have a few head scratching moments, but not where you might think, it was the cloak bellowing that I had to experiment the most with! And yeah, with a sidesword, a baskethilt, a rapier and a smallsword, the perfect armory I think. Until somebody pulled out a Winchester...but hey.

Normally I hate stripes, but these work so well on her.... I kind of want to meet her. Or be her. You captured her motion really well.

Why thank you. With her legs I doubt strips could go too wrong I'm really considering developing her story, a lot of people love the idea of her.

Thank you, it's fun to imagine what she's thinking, isn't it?

Yes it is. I keep on thinking she's found a good mark and she's just charging for it. I love the idea for the character.
