Description
I'm swamped, and a little overloaded... plus my birthday is on wednesday. So I decided to do a little something for myself before my head exploded. This painting will make no sense at all, unless you've read Behind the Mask. And even then it might not make sense since it's not illustrating anything in particular in the book. But since it's for me, it doesn't matter if no one else gets it *beams*Related content

There's a theory of simultaneous creativity that's floating around. I keep thinking... Jung came up with it? Maybe... I may be getting my philosophers mixed up. Anyway it's the same group that discusses the collective conciousness? So there's a theory that anything that's being created now, another artist somewhere has tapped into that same idea and come up with the same thing. Happens all the time, it's kind of nifty. *babbles*

Please take this as it was meant, as the sincerest form of appreciation:
OMG *squee* She looks like a Geisha from an Asian horror film!
I -adore- the Asian horror movie genre, Geisha too, and this art here is just -perfect-. Thank you for posting it.

oh hey no problems! That's not exactly the symbolism I was going for... but maybe in a round about way it was, since the japanese often went for the same type of imagery in their horror stories. So thank you!

Haha.
At least one other person is reminded of the Little Apple dolls.
I have the geisha one, and I thought that's what this picture was of until I read the description.
That sounds like an interesting book. I'll have to check it out some time.

I don't even like dolls. I got mine as a gift.
But oddly enough, these aren't as scary to me as regular dolls.
I think it's because of the masks. I feel like they can't see me when they have their masks on.

ahah I LOVE my El doll. I usually wait till one of my buddies who's terrified of dolls is out of the house, then I stand him up where I know he'll see him. Freaks him out to see a doll standing by itself and staring at him.
