I'm swamped, and a little overloaded... plus my birthday is on wednesday. So I decided to do a little something for myself before my head exploded. This painting will make no sense at all, unless you've read Behind the Mask. And even then it might not make sense since it's not illustrating anything in particular in the book. But since it's for me, it doesn't matter if no one else gets it *beams*Related content

I think this is a nice idea. ^^ Sometimes behind the mask there is something more not human. (hope everyone can understand it ^^") The nicest person can be a bad one or so.

crap I don't have it anymore (I borrowed it from a friend to read) *squints* Isaac something... I think. It started with a B. It's a study on japanese culture through their movies, pornography, theater and books. I don't know if that'll help you find it at all.

aw why not? It'd be the best trophy ever, no smelling... no need to take it to a taxidermist... and the great thing is, it's already dead! So I didn't have to kill it either!

I absolutely adore the white face! It actually looks like something I, myself would do. Heehee! The movement/twist in the wrist is lovely, also.

That is one lovley critter. I love her hair piled up and the little detailed touches to it especially. And of course, the dappling in her kimono.

A question - how do you get that texture with your watercolors? It looks almost like you use very little pigment and use a very dry wash. The upper parts look like the paint was flicked on. I love the way it looks!

which texture, there's a lot of them on there *grin* For the background I did a dry wash with a purple paint. Then after it dried, I went over it with a bit of yellow ochre. Then after THAT I went back wtih a toothbrush and randomly dipped it in different colors (purple, sepia, a lot of browns) and ran my finger over the bristles to make it splatter.

Still a good painting, regardless of whether or not I get it. I like the colours.
