March 28th.That's it. I've decided that Benden officially is in the wrong field. A colleague sent me a bit of papyrus from egypt that she had found, wanting me to identify the dragon within. Benden has latched onto it as a depiction of the elusive pixidragon.
...........
it's not. It's a nileskipper. A sweet little dragon that's known for nesting along the shores of the nile. Not common, but also not the pixidragon.
But it's off to egypt we go, to search for the dragon among the pyramids. We'll see what we find....

google it. Papyrus is a type of paper used in egypt. Or it was used in egypt, made from a plant, etc.

Ooooh, very nice.
I like this a lot, partially because of the interesting format of a papyrus scrap and partially because it contains a feathered dragonlike critter. It reminds me rather of an Archaeopteryx fossil, did you have that in mind at all?

Thank you very much. Actually I didn't have that in mind when I was drawing it... I was going for a more bird legged version of my "Thingy" dragon.... but then I saw it once I scanned it in and was cracking up. Whatever works eh?

This is really great, a lovely piece, the colourwork on the paper is spot on, and the pixidragon also looks superb.
I was wondering if you were inspired by the Archaeopterix (sp) as the front half looks slightly like it.
(Incase you dont know what the Archae' was, it was the first feather-winged "dinosaur").

Thank you very much. Actually no I was not. I was so focused on trying to translate one of my dragons into the egyptian style that I didn't realise until after I had scanned it what a ressemblance it had to that long dead creature *grin* Perhaps subconciously? There's always that. And thank you.

*cough* there are two. Micheal and Nathanael. They look the same, but Nathanael has black wings and is Micheal's father. Nathanael is Death, Micheal is the reaper of souls. Doesn't seem like a difference, but it's a big one. And Micheal is Gabe's brother. O.o but I confused you now.
