Description
I decided to make a tutorial on how to make plarn because plarn is so much fun to crochet with.Plarn is taking plastic bags and turning them into yarn.
The ball of yarn in the final picture is about 10-15 bags worth and it doesn't make much.
Any questions feel free to ask me.
This is my first tutorial. If you have any suggestions, let me know!

Thank you very much! And those are really cool! If I can ever figure out what happened to my huge ball of plarn maybe I could try that this summer.

Plarn is a very good idea, considering we have so many bags and we only use them for the cat box and possibly trash. I told my mom(An avid knitter) about it and she agreed it's a very creative use of plastic bags.
However, is there any easy way of doing this sans the loop bit? Like, cut the bag the way you say, and then...I dunno, cut them so it's one strand and then connect them like that? Or is it like the weaving loom loops? I'd get confused with crocheting if I had them in loops, so I thought I'd ask. It's nearly eleven PM and I'm half asleep, I hope that made sense. XD

I guess you could do it like that but then there are hundreds of little end bits to deal with.

Well, I'll just do it with the loops, it seems like it'd be less work and all. Thank you so much for helping, though. ^_^

my mom and her friend used to make rugs with plastic bags & old t-shirts, using pretty much the same method

A friend of mine gave me a kit with strips of fabric that work the same way.

So you're actually working with two lengths at the same time?

Kind of. It's the 2 sides of the loop at the same time but they are always connected by each knot that you tie.

But what about the second knot? It isn't a loop, it's two ends. How do you tie two ends to two other ends?

it's the same way. just attach it to the end of one of the 2 connected loops. You are always pulling the new through the old. A is the new one.

Nope. You're making a type of slip knot and it can't come undone unless you pick at the knot.

Tomorrow I'll make a detailed part of that with 2 different colored bags to help explain it better.

I fold the bag before I cut the top and bottom off. That makes it just a simple snip. Also, I cut it into 8 loops (cut in half, then halfs, then halfs again). It makes the loops more consistent in size.

That makes sense. I'll try it next time I make more. Thanks!
