"Depersonalization disorder (DPD) is a dissociative disorder in which the sufferer is affected by persistent or recurrent feelings of depersonalization and/or derealization. The symptoms include a sense of automation, going through the motions of life but not experiencing it, feeling as though one is in a movie, feeling as though one is in a dream, feeling a disconnection from one's body; out-of-body experience, a detachment from one's body, environment and difficulty relating oneself to reality." I don't have it constantly, but I experienced it about a month ago. Scary as hell. I felt like a ghost. It changed me. I haven't been myself since.

The impact of this goes straight to the bones and even deeper. Respect to you for putting a part of the psyche "on paper".

Very emotive piece of work for it to be describing such an emotionless disorder. Kudos, beautiful manip!

as was said before, one of the best manips ever!
what i like especially is the effect, that your face under the letters seems to have nothing really unique, more something like being paralysed, which makes the depersonalisation even stronger!!
yeah man dotors . . . a few years ago i had an accident with a bottle of glass and geuss what the physician said to me ?! ( word for word) : "Mrs. Gutwasser if i were you i would disband my friends . . . itΒ΄s not many hope for you left "
and i was only 16 . ..
anyways, donΒ΄t give a damn what these quaksalver say!! itΒ΄s your life, so live it the way you want!
donΒ΄t need to beashamed of anything !

The thing with doctors is that they've been through so many horrific life stories that sometimes they simply don't care anymore.

This piece catches me in so many different ways, and I can't help but add it to my collection of favorites as a very beautiful and artistically brilliant piece of work. I love the eyes most of all, catching and bright- eyes that of course see things that others cannot- ones that are not veiled or blinded by emotions or thoughts, even obligations. Eyes that see without judgment, I suppose. The collar second, symbolic of the feeling of being trapped within your own body. Forced to play the part of 'you' but not understanding it. Bound to your body in a way that seems normal, yet unnatural in a plethora of different ways. The text third, a definition of something that only a few can really understand, where the edges are blurred and only a few short things seem to click in clarity. A phrase that even doctors can barely comprehend. Then again, maybe I just look at pictures and pick up weird things that I like to comment on. 8D
However, this piece catches me in another way- a very familiar albeit terrifying and, as you've stated somewhat 'boring', fashion. It's not uncommon for people in their everyday lives to get caught up in the familiar routine they have put themselves in, and some may think that they are bound to it- those that suffer from it more chronically though, Depersonalization Disorder, look at it in an entirely different light.
As someone who has suffered from it for a multitude of years, seeing that someone else out there understands... it seems like a lamp at the end of a dark and twisting tunnel to say the least. xD I've woken up on some mornings to find that I can't remember who I am... where I was or what anything around me might have been. I've forgotten my name, looked at it and found myself unfamiliar with it. Looked at people and wondered who they were, and how I've come to know them. Interesting experiences to say the least. Of course the list of certain events or 'trigger moments' could go on forever and a half- but I just figured I'd make a comment that I get it and understand. >>;; If that makes any sense.
In conclusion and in short: I approve of this wonderful piece! Very nice. 8D

That was the best comment I recived in these 6 years I've been on this site.
As I was doing the image, I didn't think about it much, actually it started out as a test of sorts, but the more I worked on it, the more interesting it became. You found meanings inside of it that never even crossed my mind. But that's what art is all about.
Now usualy I just write thanks to every comment I get, but truly thank you for this.

Good art always needs to be appreciated in my opinion, and although I believe it's fine to just cut to the chase and say "Good Job" and move along- there are some pieces that deserve the time and effort put into a well thought response.
Oh wow! -Laughs- Funny how some of the better works turn out from something new you're trying, yeah? I have a habit of observing things in a very... dedicated way. Especially a piece that overall seems very symbolic to me. I'm glad that in a sense, I've brought some new light to it.
-Bows- No problem~

This is fantastic. I like how the text wraps around the face. And the double in the background.
