So many legs! This looks really cool.

I wonder how you put these drawings together---was the line art on paper or was it digital? Do you touch it up at all before coloring?

Hee, thank you!!

Hope I'll answer your questions right! ^_^ For this drawing, I started out on paper with a 0.5mm mechanical pencil.

I, usually don't like my pens for traditional inking; so even though I don't remember if I inked this I'd guess confidently that I didn't. (I used to draw in pencil super lightly, then go over the lines I liked most, again & again & again, with the same pencil.)

I next scanned it, then started cleanup-- but didn't finish (for a loooooong time...!)

Recently on the App "Procreate," I got successful imports of lots of my past drawings. From there (digitally), it's much easier for me to make fixes...! Ex, there's a shadow cast from the scanning step- it looks gray/blurry, you may see it on the bottom middle (along tail) & top (near the horns)! That cleanup's time-consuming, but usually worth it. ^_^ (Was still some left, even after cleanup, that you can probably see.) Cleanup's a bit easier digitally-- with a pen, too!

But all of my old pencil lines (drew this 2006), I really liked & didn't want to mess with. So I set my layer, with the line art on it, at the top; changed the layer to "multiply," and then colored underneath on separate layers!

Other times, I might like to have my lines cleaner/bolder; and these days, thanks to the Procreate App and a pen, I can ink digitally...!! ( *Such* a lifesaver for me, oh my gosh: putting inked lines on their own layer, liberally applying "undo," & my eraser, every time I mess up, hahahah~!! )

Whew! Long reply; sorry. Did that help any, by way of answering your questions?

Oh, I've heard of that app before! I hadn't seen someone use it, though (that I knew of, haha). It looks great!

Yeah, it took took me a while, too, before I started feeling comfortable using pens for my line art. Or just using pens in general. There's some part of my brain that would keep forgetting how to draw a straight line every time I picked one up.

Thanks for such a thorough answer!

Oh my goodness, this is beautiful! I'm a complete sucker for intricacy and detail so the second I saw this I just melted! I love all the legs and claws, and the shading and colour on it goes so well! It just looks so elegant! Bah, I love it!!

Ooh, it's another long-time progress drawing! Those are always interesting! ^u^
I really like the aesthetic you went for here - His shapes look very organic to me, and the slightly shiny texture of the scales make them stand out a bit. And I think the way the tail loops around the bottom really helps to sort of "soften" the otherwise spiky imagery! Great job on that!

When I first saw this on your Twitter, I thought "Woah, is this a dragon?" but then I saw it was a basilisk... and I thought "This is awesome either way!" Very nice job here, Jet, keep it up!
