this is really 200 hundred photos overlapped into one using a program called helicon focus. you could get similar results taking a single exposure but any ambient light would normally wash sections out, so this is easier.

I use a interval remote that I set 2 take a photo every 30 secs for a couple hours

depends on what camera its for, all it needs is to have an interval timer mode.
