I'm in the middle of doing a Final Fantasy game marathon (playing main series games from FF1 to FF10), and I got real inspired when I was going through FF2. I was surprised at how much I enjoyed the game and found myself really getting into the story and characters. I feel the pacing, story and presentation was quite good for such an early entry into the franchise.I especially found myself cheering for Richard, the first Dragoon to be introduced into the series. He was pretty awesome, and I was super happy to be able to play as him again in the extra chapter and the end of the Anniversary PSP edition. He was still awesome in that too! XD
Anyhow. Dragoons are awesome. "Wyverns" which are not wyverns are awesome. I made a picture celebrating both from FF 2. Enjoy!
P.S. : There needs to be more FF2 art out there!

In my humble opinion, Final Fantasy 9 is the best game of them all. It's from 10 onwards where the franchise begins to stink. I guess to me, 2 is also a stinker, but it's a tiny blemish from 1 to 9. I grew up with 9, that's why I stick to it the most.
I hope you get to play 9 as soon as possible, and I hope you do enjoy it, and if you do, may you enjoy it as much as I did (and still fondly recall to this day).

Ha ha, yeah, I have seen 9 is a favorite of many. Since I'm playing them in order, I'm a ways off from 9 still, but I am looking forward to seeing what it has in store for me. I'm not so much of a fan of the character art direction, but the game play looks stellar!
I was deeply impressed with X the on my first time through, so much so I did my best to complete all those annoying mini games (except Blitzball. Sport is not my thing). FFX was my introduction to what the PS2 was truly capable of graphic wise, and I still think X has some of my favorite location and creature design I have yet to see anywhere. Though, I will admit I don't get the clothing direction with that game. Do damn awkward and impracticable!
