Description This is a Maori-inspired tattoo design using common Maori symbols of Koru (spiral), Hei Matau (Fish Hook), Manaia, and others. You can find many of their meanings on the web. Most of the integrated symbols on here represent prosperity, eternal life, the joining of two people and/or cultures for life no matter its ups and downs by friendship and loyalty, good health, safe journey over water, spiritual protection/guiding your spirit through life, new beginnings, harmony, and life's path of no beginning or end.

I can sympathize with the Maori being Native and understanding how people rip off our culture and spirituality, I took special care by contacts and research to make sure I was not being offensive to the Maori people and their culture by using symbols I shouldn't, etc.

I am fascinated with their culture. I may attempt some other Maori-inspired pieces in the future, however, I will never do moko or any other art that I am not qualified, permitted, or otherwise would draw offense to the Maori people. I hope you guys enjoy.

Thanks! I am Lakota myself, but I find all indigenous cultures beautiful. I hope to do more here soon. The Maori have a beautiful culture and their mokkko tattoos are just second to none.
